Hand Written Thank You Notes

85d2b-me1When was the last time you sent a handwritten Thank You note?

Thank You Note Etiquette

Someone does something important for you, you should write a Thank You note.  It’s that simple. A rule you may need to revisit is to always, always send a thank you note to anyone who gives you a gift or has been there for you during a difficult time.  It could be a small gift, a grandiose gift, a favor, or even more important than a physical gift, someone gives you emotional support.  If someone took the time enough to find a gift, do you a favor, be with you during difficult times the fact that they thought of you definitely needs to be acknowledged.

How many times have you wondered if the person you sent something received it?

I know this irritates me because I wonder:

  • Did they received it and forgot to acknowledge it?
  • Did they appreciated not only the gift but my the time and effort
  • Did they even liked what you chose for them
  • Do they recognize that I took time out of my busy schedule
  • They did know that I chose something that I thought they’d like

And, how do you ask them whether they received it or do they just not have good manners?

The different types of Thank You notes

Different types of gifts almost definitely warrant different notes. It doesn’t matter whether the gift was expensive or a simple favor, you need to invest a little bit of time on a personalized thank you card. Email has also become just too easy however, you don’t have the time, an email is better than nothing. It is important to put a rush on, and I know this from personal experience, the longer you procrastinate writing a note, the more likely you’ll forget about it.  Try earnestly to say thanks within a month while it’s fresh is everyone’s mind, yours and the gift-giver. Also, take the time to personalize the note.  It may be tempting to keep it short and to the point, but you should take the time to ensure the message is personal and more than just a generic “Thank You for the Gift”.

A Simple Handwritten Thank You Note

A handwritten thank you note can make a world of difference in one’s relationships.  The words used on thank you notes not only shows your appreciation,  but it expresses that you have recognized that someone has made an effort, gone out of their way, prioritized you and you need to take the time to acknowledge it. There are many different words that you can use on thank you notes.  Below are a few examples to prompt you and help start the conversation.

A Thank You Note for Someone Visiting

  • Thank you for having us over for dinner, for the great company and conversations.
  • Thank you for coming, know that our day was more special because you were there with us.
  • Thank you so much for being with us on our special day. We’ll never forget the great experience we had together.
  • Thank you for inviting us into your lovely home, we had a wonderful time.
  • Thanks so much, we had a great time the other night.

A Thank You Note for Someone Caring or Sharing an Experience

  • We know you have a busy schedule and appreciate you taking the time to come over. Thank you so much.
  • Thank you for being there for me during a difficult time in my life.
  • We can never thank you enough for all you’ve done.
  • You helped me just when I needed help the most, I appreciate your support.
  • Thank you so very much, you have been extremely supportive through a very difficult time.
  • I want to thank you for all the support. That was very kind of you.
  • Your support has made me a stronger person and I will forever be grateful.
  • Thank you for being there for me. Taking the time to help me was a very nice thing for you to do.
  • Thank you for thinking of me and for your kindness.
  • Thank you my friend and for the most beautiful thing that has ever happened to me.

Sending a Thank You Note For a Gift

  • We will treasure the beautiful gift you gave us forever. Thank you for taking the time to choose such a great gift.
  • Thank you so much for the thoughtful present, we love the beautiful gift you gave us and will definitely treasure it for years to come.
  • We love the great gift you gave us, thank you ever so much for taking the time to choose such a beautiful gift for us.
  • We love the gift you gave us and can’t thank you enough for your thoughtfulness.

Thank You GiftA hand written Note and A Gift

If someone has really done a lot for you and has supported you during a very difficult time, a hand-written not along with a gift will definitely show your appreciation and leave a lasting impression. Selecting a more personalized gift can also make a lasting impression. You don’t have to wait until the holiday to send out a token of appreciation. An unscheduled gift sent just after someone has shown their kindness can make a difference.

Just Do It Now Before You Forget

Make writing thank you notes a part of your day and your friends, customers, clients, patients, referrer, vendor and it will definitely be pleasant surprised, since most people are not doing it anymore. For businesses, if you want to stand out from the crowd a handwritten note will  definitely do this. It can create loyal customers, increase referrals, and essentially help in building a great relationship.

This will be your chance in this age of high tech to put aside the email, the text messages and break out the note cards and do it the way we use to do it,  the old-fashioned way.

7 Memorable Chemo Gift Ideas

cbb60-me1

I believe that the Best Gift Is a Lasting Memory –  laughter, kindness, handwritten notes, inspirational quotes, a book of poems.

There are times that sending a handwritten note or a card to someone who is dealing with cancer can have lasting memories. It shows that you cared enough to take the time, in this crazy/busy world to sit down at your desk  to write inspirational words of encouragement. A compilation of your favorite poems, or ones you know she may enjoy, will be something she’ll cherish for years to come. Click on the link and check out some of my favorites.

Here are some gift ideas that can inspire or cheer up a friend  who is going through chemotherapy. It is at this time that she will need all the support that you can offer. It doesn’t need to be expensive, it can be simply be:

1. A  magazine subscription  will keep her inspired with greamatterst stories, fashion and beauty. There are so many to choose from and this is such an affordable gift that can last a full year. She will think about your kindness every time she received this gift.

2. A series or film trilogy that she hasn’t yet seen or one she would enjoy seeing again.

3. Give Her A reason to laugh.

Laughter is the best medicine – a comedy DVD or taking her to a stand-up live show that would keep her laughing. Researchers at California’s Loma Linda University  looked at adults in their 60s and 70s, measuring their stress levels and short-term memory

The study showed lower levels of cortisol, the “stress hormone,” after wLaughter1atching the videos. The non-humor group’s stress levels decreased just slightly. Other stu
dies have also shown even more health benefits of laughter. Studies found that a sense of humor can protect against heart disease, lower cortisol, lower stress, and benefits leading to a better quality of life. Incorporating time to laugh with with friends, watching comedy can enhance learning ability and memory.

4. Beauty items – i.e. nail polish or even a skin brush. One of the claims is that there are benefits to skin brushing. It can be done at home or may be offered at spas and can possibly help:

  • Lymphatic Support:  Many lymph vessels run just below the skin and proponents of dry brushing claim that brushing the skin regularly helps stimulate the normal lymph flow within the body and help the body detoxify itself naturally.
  • Exfoliation: This benefit is often noticed the first time a person dry brushes. The process of running a firm, natural bristled brush over the skin helps loosen and remove dead skin cells, naturally exfoliating skin.
  • Clean Pores: The added benefit of exfoliating the skin, is clearing oil, dirt and residue from the pores.

5. Mints, gum, sweets are always useful as her mouth can get really dry from the treatment and it can also affect her taste buds. Our gift basket offers chemoa variety of good and healthy snacks including peppermint candy
crystallized ginger candy and peppermint gum

6. If you’d really like to help out with chores, either offer your services or hire a cleaner for the duration of treatment.

7. If you know what she may like, go shopping for a combination of products and create your own personalized gift basket. This is not too difficult and it may not look “professional” but it doesn’t need to be. It’s a gift from your heart and she will appreciate it even more.

Whatever you decide to buy, make it personal.  When you give it to her, make a cup of tea and chat over your choices. It can be  items that she’ll treasure forever and it will remind her of your support during a really difficult time. After all, the best gift is a lasting memory!

Delight In The Journey.

A Collection of Inspirational Poems and Quotes

Delight in The Journey

Those who delight in the journey will also get the most enjoyment after reaching the destination. Those who whine and complain all the way there will continue to be miserable even when they arrive, if they ever make it that far.

Find joy and fulfillment in the process of achievement and the rewards will be most fulfilling too. For the real value of the reward is in the effort, the commitment, the substance of life that goes into reaching it.

Certainly it takes a great deal of effort, focus and discipline to achieve an ambitious goal. But who says those things must be unpleasant? Actually, whether something is unpleasant or not is usually just a matter of opinion. And you are free to change your opinion at any time.

Imagine what would happen if you could truly and sincerely enjoy those activities that are necessary for reaching the success you desire. Consider how much more interested, enthusiastic, skilled, committed and persistent you would be.

Take delight in the journey, enjoy what you’re doing, while you’re doing it, whatever it may be. And you’ll truly arrive in style and grace, wherever you wish to go.

– Ralph Marston

Imagine A Woman
Imagine a woman who believes it is right and good she is a woman.
A woman who honors her experience and tells her stories. Who refuses to carry the sins of others within her body and life.

Imagine a woman who trusts and respects herself.
A woman who listens to her needs and desires.
Who meets them with tenderness and grace.

Imagine a woman who has acknowledged the past’s influence on the present.
A woman who has walked through her past.
Who has healed into the present.

Imagine a woman who authors her own life.
A woman who exerts, initiates, and moves on her own behalf. Who refuses to surrender except to her truest and wisest voice.

Imagine a woman who names her own gods.
A woman who imagines the divine in her image and likeness.
Who designs a personal spirituality to inform her daily life.

Imagine a woman in love with her own body.
A woman who believes her body is enough, just as it is.
Who celebrates her body’s rhythms and cycles as an exquisite resource.

Imagine a woman who honors the body of the Goddess in her
changing body.
A woman who celebrates the accumulation of her years and her wisdom.
Who refuses to use her precious life energy disguising the changes in her body and life.

Imagine a woman who values the women in her life.
A woman who sits in circles of women.
Who is reminded of the truth about herself when she forgets.

Imagine yourself as this woman.

– Patricia Lynn Reilly

ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

Stopping before you reach the goal does not make the discouragement go away. All it does is make the discouragement permanent. Instead, keep going, keep making the attempt, until you make that last, fulfilling attempt that brings the success you desire. — Ralph Marston

“Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great ones make you feel that you too, can become great.”
-Mark Twain

Don’t Quit
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don’t quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyong of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out,
Dont’ give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is falure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.
For all the sad words of tongue or pen,
The saddest are these: “It might have been!”

“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.”

-Ralph Waldo Emerson

Anything is Possible
If there was ever a time to dare,
to make a difference,
to embark on something worth doing,
IT IS NOW.
Not for any grand cause, necessarily…
but for something that tugs at your heart,
something that’s your inspiration,
something that’s your dream.
You owe it to yourself
to make your days here count.
HAVE FUN.
DIG DEEP.
STRETCH.
DREAM BIG.
Know, though, that things worth doing
seldom come easy.
There will be good days.
And there will be bad days.
There will be times when you want to turn around,
pack it up, and call it quits.
Those times tell you
that you are pushing yourself,
that you are not afraid to learn by trying.
PERSIST.
Because with an idea,
determination, and the right tools,
you can do great things.
Let your instincts, your intellect,
and your heart, guide you.
TRUST.
Believe in the incredible power of the human mind.
Of doing something that makes a difference.
Of working hard.
Of laughing and hoping.
Of lazy afternoons.
Of lasting friends.
Of all the things that will cross your path this year.
The start of something new
brings the hope of something great,

What if you had only 6 months to live?

While you might not have only 6 months to live, I’m here to break the news to you: you really do only have a short time to live. It’s all relative, whether that’s 6 months, 6 years or 60 … in a blink of an eye, it’s going to be over.

The life you have left is a gift. Cherish and enjoy it now, to the fullest. Do what matters, now! Make the time for what does matter … now, today. We have this life once. The Golden Super Bowl

cbb60-me1 2016 Super Bowl Commercials are soon going to be here.
I look at the game, so I don’t miss the commercials. Thus far it seems that 41 brands have announced their plans to advertise during Super Bowl 50 (aka Golden Super Bowl) one of the biggest day in USA sports – and for those of us who are more into the TV commercials, we can’t wait for the great ones.

Do you know that it appears that these 41 companies paid CBS a minimum of 5 million (that’s over $200M, if my math is correct) per 30 seconds to over 100 million eager viewers! I guess the advertisers must believe that those dollars are worth it.
As the excitement builds in the short time that remains before Super Bowl Sunday, here’s a look at everything we know so far.
Time’s Everything you need to know:
Odds: The Panthers are favored by 4.5 points with the over/under set at 45 points.
Halftime Show: Coldplay will perform and be joined by Beyoncé. The two artists recently collaborated on two songs, “Hymn for the Weekend” and for Coldplay’s latest album.
Commercials: The cost of a 30-second advertisement is $5 million.
Food: It’s estimated that Americans will eat 1.3 billion, or 162.5 million pounds, of wings on Super Bowl Sunday.
